Fårö with the rauks
The small island, Fårö, former home of the famous movie director Ingmar Bergman, has more to offer besides long sandy beaches and limestone rauks. The Montagu´s harrier has the strongest population on Gotland here. In spring and summer you can often see them hunting over the harsh landscape. On the southern part of Fårö, at Limmor moor, you will find barred warblers, corn crakes and collared flycatchers.

A very interesting area you will find in the south-eastern part of Gotland, at Närsholmen and the very shallow Lausvik. At Närsholmens juniper savannah, the Russian film director Tarkovsky shot the well-known “Sacrifice”. This area shows an impressive richness of birds and plants. A perfect place for a full day tour.
